I'm sure that I'm forgetting a bunch of other huge gaming rivalries, but as someone who got into the competitive scene of games like SSBM and LoL simply because of the narratives and rivalries perpetuated by the community and commentators, I know that this is a working way to get new people interested in a great game. Leffen vs Chillindude Salty Suite in Smash Melee Now before this post gets thrown out as trying to incite drama or whatever, just realize that some of the greatest gaming moments and rivalries have come from situations like this. As a result, this event would garner not only the interest of those already interested in competitive TFT, but it would also introduce people who are interested in narratives to competitive TFT. Unlike the other twitch rivals events which are meant for people who are already fans of competitive TFT, this could be advertised as an event with higher stakes and pride on the line - with all involved parties having something to prove. Now while something like this would generally require collaboration from both parties to some extent, I was thinking that this could be a great opportunity for the TFT team to take advantage of the situation and set up something like a twitch rivals event between Korea and NA for viewers to be excited about (should the affected individuals be willing). These events often lead to an increase in viewership for the involved individuals, as viewers are invested in the fact that each party has a more-than-monetary incentive to win. Content creators in these games often find ways to settle their beef by having ladder-climbing competitions or even straight-up 1v1s. My intention for this post is not really to bring attention to the drama (I'm sure most of you here probably already are aware of what happened), but I wanted to suggest ways in which we can use something like this productively in order to benefit the TFT community and garner further interest from people who aren't associated with the competitive scene.ĭrama like this is not unique to the TFT scene - situations like this arise pretty often in other competitive games such as League, Hearthstone, and Smash. For those who need context on the situation that I'm referencing, here's a tweet thread by GV8 that pretty much sums up the entirety of it:
